Job Summary
We are seeking an astute procurement specialist with strong expertise in civil works, construction, and related activities. The ideal candidate will have hands on knowledge of sourcing materials, equipment, and services for construction projects, as well as general procurement. Assistant Manager will supervise purchasing activities, guarantee that acquired materials are cost effective and of excellent quality and ensure compliance with construction project requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers / vendors for goods, services, and construction / civil works materials.
- Procure goods and services that meet company quality standards, with a focus on construction and infrastructure needs, in the most efficient and economical way.
- Draft procurement plans for supplies, services, equipment, and construction-related materials.
- Analyze and negotiate vendor agreements, including terms and pricing, especially for civil works contracts.
- Maintain procurement and pricing records, including inventory management for construction materials.
- Monitor inventories and replenish supplies as necessary, with special attention to project timelines.
- Track orders to ensure prompt delivery, particularly for construction projects.
- Enter order information (vendors, quantities, pricing) into internal databases.
- Stay updated on market developments and new products, especially in the construction sector.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and project managers regarding updates, product changes, and specifics.
- Compare products and services with market trends to determine the right cost, especially for civil work.
- Update and maintain supplier information, including delivery schedules and product lines.
- Prepare budgets, cost analyses, and reports for procurement activities, including construction projects.
- Examine invoices to verify that delivered products and services are accurate and meet project specifications.
Requirements & Qualifications
BSc, Business Administration (preferably in Supply Chain), Business Management, or Civil Engineering / Construction Management (preferred).Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience as a Purchasing Officer, Procurement Agent, or similar role, preferably in the construction / civil works sector.Demonstrated experience in sourcing and procuring construction materials, equipment, and services.Expertise in compiling and following strict budgets for construction projects.High level of skill in vendor sourcing (researching, evaluating, and liaising with vendors), especially for civil works.Knowledge and hands-on experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle) for procurement, inventory, and supply chain management.Excellent negotiating abilities to obtain the most favorable terms and value for money.Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to prepare financial reports and conduct cost analyses for construction projects.Exceptional interpersonal skills and rapport building.
