Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Network Support Engineer, based in Islamabad . The Network Support Engineer will be responsible for daily network administration tasks, providing technical support, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring network security. The role involves managing and maintaining the network infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Administration : Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Mikrotik and UniFi network devices, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Network Monitoring : Monitor network performance and ensure reliable connectivity across all locations.
- Security & Networking : Manage VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and other network protocols to maintain security and efficiency.
- Maintenance & Documentation : Conduct firmware updates, backups, and documentation of network devices.
- IT Operations Support : Provide technical support to users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- IT Equipment Management : Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment such as desktops, laptops, printers, and servers.
- Updates & Monitoring : Ensure timely patch management and updates for operating systems and software.
- Proactive Monitoring : Monitor IT systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- CCTV & Door Access : Install, configure, and maintain CCTV surveillance systems and IP cameras; troubleshoot CCTV hardware and software; manage door access control systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain up-to-date documentation of network layouts, configurations, and access credentials; generate periodic reports on network performance, security incidents, and system availability.
- Collaboration & Improvement : Work closely with the senior IT team to implement network upgrades and improvements; propose and execute enhancements to optimize IT operations and network performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Hands-on experience with Mikrotik and UniFi devices.Proficiency in network troubleshooting, routing, and switching protocols.Knowledge of CCTV systems and door access control technologies.Familiarity with IT operations, hardware, software, and operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.).Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.Certifications (Preferred)
UniFi certification (Ubiquiti Enterprise Wireless Admin or similar).CompTIA Network+ or similar IT certifications.Seniority level
