Overview
The System and Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing, managing, and maintaining IT infrastructure across multiple client environments. This role involves providing technical expertise in system and network administration to ensure seamless operation and security of both on-premises and cloud-based systems. The System and Network Administrator will manage a broad range of systems, including networking equipment, servers, firewalls, virtualization technologies, and cloud services, and provide comprehensive support to ensure business continuity and optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Network and System Administration
Administer and maintain client network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies from vendors such as Cisco, SonicWall, Palo Alto, Juniper, F5, HP, and Aruba
Manage and maintain server environments, both on-premises and in the cloud, using Windows Server ) and virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Hyper-VSupport and administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Azure environments, including user management, group policies, and cloud-based servicesImplement and maintain firewalls and VPN solutions such as Cisco AnyConnect, Meraki, SonicWall, and Fortinet to ensure secure remote access and data protectionSecurity and ComplianceMonitor, configure, and manage security protocols, including intrusion detection / prevention systems, firewalls, and anti-virus solutions
Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and patch management to ensure compliance with security best practicesWork with clients to develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plansSupport and TroubleshootingProvide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for system, network, and application issues
Use remote management tools to diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to client operationsTroubleshoot problems across various client environments, ranging from simple desktop issues to complex network problemsVirtualization and Cloud ServicesAdminister VMWare environments, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual servers
Provide expertise in cloud services, particularly Azure, to support client needs for scalable and resilient infrastructureCollaboration and Ticket ManagementCollaborate with internal and external teams to provide effective IT solutions and support
Utilize ticketing systems such as ConnectWise, Kaseya, and ServiceNow to track, manage, and resolve support requests in an organized and timely mannerEnsure proper documentation of all configurations, troubleshooting efforts, and solutions in the ticketing systemMonitoring and ReportingProactively monitor network and system performance, using monitoring tools to detect and resolve potential issues before they impact client operations
Provide regular reports on system performance, uptime, and security incidents to management and clientsRequirements
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of experience as a System and Network Administrator, with a proven track record of installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and data center technologies5+ years of experience in a helpdesk or technical support role, providing frontline support and resolving issues via ticketing systemsExpertise in Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Azure cloud platforms, including advanced user and group management, permissions, and cloud services administrationIn-depth knowledge of firewall technologies and VPN solutions such as Cisco AnyConnect, Meraki, SonicWall, and Fortinet, with hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting these systemsStrong proficiency in VMWare and other virtualization platforms, including virtual machine setup, maintenance, and performance tuningExperience managing Windows desktop and server environments ), with a strong understanding of patch management, updates, and system hardeningProficiency with ticketing and remote management tools such as ConnectWise, Kaseya, ServiceNow, and other similar platformsSolid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN configurationsStrong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple client systems simultaneouslyPreferred Qualifications
Experience with monitoring tools and network management platforms for proactive system maintenance and issue detectionFamiliarity with additional virtualization technologies like Hyper-VStrong understanding of disaster recovery planning and implementationCertification in relevant areas such as Microsoft, Cisco, or VMware (e.g., MCSA, CCNA, VCP)This role is crucial in ensuring clients IT infrastructures are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance, and offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic environment.
