Manager Systems

Riphah is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Manager Systems to oversee the system-side operations. The role includes management of virtualization platforms, backups, cloud hosting, and system administration-covering both Windows and Linux environments. The ideal candidate will ensure the availability, security, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure. Job Requirements

Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in system administration. Proficient in managing Linux and Windows server environments. Deep understanding of VMware vCenter, Veeam Backup, AWS, and enterprise IT systems. Experience with scripting (Bash, PowerShell) and automation tools (Ansible preferred). Job Skills & Competencies

Strong command over virtualization and Linux / Windows system administration. Experience in high-availability environments and disaster recovery setups. Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities under pressure. Responsibilities

Virtualization & System Infrastructure : Administer and maintain the VMware vCenter environment (ESXi hosts, VMs). Manage VM provisioning, resource optimization, and high availability configurations. Monitor system performance, logs, and capacity planning metrics. Linux & Windows System Administration : Administer and maintain Linux (RHEL / CentOS / Ubuntu) and Windows Server operating systems. Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize core services such as Apache / Nginx, MySQL / PostgreSQL, crontabs, (iptables / ufw), and systemd services. Implement system hardening practices on Linux and Windows servers. Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and user access controls on Systems. Automate system administration tasks using Shell / Python scripting and configuration tools (e.g., Ansible). Backup & Disaster Recovery : Oversee Veeam Backup & Replication and ensure timely, verified backups. Administer Dell EMC Data Domain backup storage and archive systems. Plan, document, and test disaster recovery procedures across platforms. Cloud Infrastructure : Manage and monitor infrastructure hosted on AWS Cloud EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch. Develop and maintain hybrid cloud infrastructure models. Ensure cost control, security compliance, and performance optimization in the cloud. Security & Compliance : Apply system hardening guidelines and patch management policies. Configure fail2ban, SELinux, and other Linux / Windows security features. Enforce data protection and access control policies across systems. Assist in compliance and audit readiness activities. Team & Vendor Management : Lead and mentor a team of system administrators and support engineers. Liaise with vendors and service providers for procurement, support, and escalations. Maintain vendor SLAs and track renewal cycles. Planning & Innovation : Assess and recommend new technologies or platforms for infrastructure efficiency. Contribute to the long-term IT roadmap and data center modernization initiatives. Prepare regular system health and capacity reports for senior management.
