Manager - Imports

Post Graduation in Supply Chain or Finance

Responsible for managing Import function of DMG in terms of complete L / C management, arrangement of overseas and inland logistics, coordinate with clearing agents in strategic decision making for clearance and to negotiate with the shipping companies for obtaining special rates. Facilitate Group FX-Treasury head in daily FX transactions and negotiations with the banks' treasury department.

• Supervise the L / C management function; examine and negotiate the corporate terms & conditions in order to safeguard group companies' interests and clarify the supplier for the required amendments in the L / C with the help of respective procurement department.
• As per Instructions by dept. Head supervising the preparation of the L / C requests and mediating with the banks for removing the bottle necks at the corporate level.
• In co-ordination with the Procurement dept. clarifying the supplier for the required amendment in the L / C.
• Advise Project / Procurement department on whether the proposed consignments are importable in Pakistan and their pre-requisites, and facilitate in developing project costing.
• Coordinating with Project dept. / Procurement dept. if the newly proposed Project / consignments are importable in Pakistan and what are the requisite for importation.
• Facilitate the Project dept. / Procurement dept. in developing Projected costing.
• Facilitate Procurement department by contributing in trade related aspects while negotiating and explaining procedural details to the suppliers and the steps involved in the complete trade transaction.
• In co-ordination with Procurement dept. explaining procedural details to the supplier about the steps involved in the complete trade transaction.
• Close co-ordinate with the Procurement dept. to contribute the trade related aspects while negotiation with the suppliers, also suggesting efficient mode of transaction.
• Arrange overseas logistics in case of special requirements to facilitate the supplier and to save substantial costs to the respective company. Supervise inland logistics and intervene for problem solving and decision making.
• Monitor clearing agent's activities and take corrective actions at the import clearance level.
• Fully involved in strategic decision making with the clearing agent at the import clearance level.
• Negotiate with the shipping companies for obtaining special rates for security deposits.
• Facilitate Group Foreign Exchange Treasury Head in daily FX transactions and negotiations with the banks' treasury department for discounting.

Job Specifications (Qualifications, Experience)

Qualification : Masters / Graduate

Experience : Minimum 5 - 6 years relevant experience

Special Features (Knowledge and Skills)

 Comprehensive knowledge about Customs laws and Regulations.

 Total command of Trade / Trade Finance related matters.
