Manager / Senior Manager – Audit & Assurance Back Office

Position Overview :
Synchronous is seeking a seasoned and dynamic professional to lead its expanding audit and assurance back-office operations in Islamabad. This leadership role serves as a critical interface between our Canadian engagement teams and the Pakistan-based delivery hub, ensuring the highest standards of quality, timeliness, and team performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in audit and assurance, proven managerial capabilities, and a passion for operational excellence within a global service delivery framework.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development : Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of professionals engaged in audit, assurance, and advisory services for Canadian and international clients. Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, career development initiatives, and regular performance evaluations. Lead recruitment and onboarding efforts to build a robust and capable team.
- Engagement Oversight & Quality Assurance : Oversee the preparation and review of audit working papers, year-end client files, financial statements, management letters, confirmations, and supporting schedules. Ensure engagement deliverables comply with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), IFRS, and other applicable regulatory frameworks. Conduct thorough reviews of engagement files to uphold quality and compliance standards.
- Client & Stakeholder Coordination : Serve as the primary liaison with Canadian managers and partners to coordinate work plans, deadlines, and client communications. Respond to ad hoc requests and support Canadian time zones to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Operational Management : Manage resource allocation, budget adherence, productivity metrics, and workflow optimization to meet service-level expectations. Prepare and present periodic reports on performance, quality, and operational efficiency to Canadian leadership.
- Process Improvement & Technology Enablement : Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, adoption of new audit technologies (e.g., CaseWare, data analytics tools), and implementation of best practices. Ensure strict compliance with information security protocols to safeguard sensitive client data.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience : Minimum of 7 years of experience in audit and assurance, including 2–4 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Demonstrated expertise in IFRS, ASPE, and international audit standards. Proven track record of managing audit engagements for both public and private entities.Skills & Attributes : Exceptional command of English (verbal and written). Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. High ethical standards and professional integrity. Proficiency in MS Office, audit software (e.g., CaseWare), and cloud-based collaboration platforms. Flexibility to work extended hours to accommodate North American time zones.Preferred Experience : Prior exposure to international back-office or shared services environments. Familiarity with Canadian public company filings (SEDAR / SEDAR+), CPAB requirements, or U.S. SOX engagements.Compensation & Benefits
