The pace of software delivery remains frustratingly slow. Backlogs accumulate, cycle times stretch into weeks, and code review often devolves into a formality designed to meet sprint deadlines. Many teams struggle with integration risk, fragile architectures, and ambiguous requirements. AI coding agents now produce viable code, but only when given precise specifications and closely monitored. The industry continues to add more developers rather than addressing the underlying system that translates intent into dependable, production-ready software.

Trilogy has chosen a different direction. We operate an end-to-end agentic development process : engineers lead research, specification, architecture, and quality assurance, while AI agents execute implementation. Specifications are crafted to be executable by Claude Code, built test‑first and carefully scoped to limit impact radius. The outcome is continuous deployment of production features with significantly faster feedback cycles, reduced integration surprises, and greater confidence in correctness before any code reaches main.

This role is designed for engineers who prefer designing systems and validating correctness over processing tickets. You will allocate approximately 10–20% to research and technical exploration to grasp existing behavior, constraints, and stakeholder requirements; 40–50% translating that knowledge into precise, test‑driven, agent‑compatible specifications and architectural choices; and 40–50% coordinating and overseeing implementation. You own what gets deployed : no hidden failures, no vague specs, no deflecting responsibility to the agent.

You will work with a team that views specification as a deliverable, review as an engineering practice, and delivery as the singular metric that matters. What You Will Be Doing

Technical Discovery : Examining existing systems, stakeholder requirements, and data sources to comprehend the problem domain and technical limitations

Technical Specification : Transforming research insights and stakeholder needs into precise, executable technical specifications tailored for agentic coding assistants (primarily Claude Code) using spec‑driven development methodology

AI Implementation : Directing AI coding agents to execute specifications, continuously reviewing and validating agent‑generated code, and incorporating validated changes into the production codebase

AI Software Engineer Key Responsibilities

Continuous delivery of production‑grade software features and systems through agentic development workflows, where AI coding agents perform implementation while engineers lead specification, architecture, and quality assurance

Basic Requirements

At least 3 years professional software engineering experience in production environments

Experience participating in pull request review processes

Experience using AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Windsurf, Cursor) in a professional setting

Working with us This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD / hour, which equates to $100,000 USD / year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
