Overview
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing all financial transactions related to freight operations, including carrier payments, customer invoicing, billing audits, and expense reconciliation. This role ensures that all accounting activities within the 3PL operation are accurate, timely, and compliant with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue customer invoices based on completed loads and verified documentation.
- Review and process carrier bills for payment, ensuring rate accuracy and deduction verification.
- Reconcile load financials between the TMS and accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Audit billing discrepancies and resolve payment disputes between carriers and customers.
- Maintain accurate records of payments, expenses, and outstanding receivables.
- Communicate with operations teams to verify load details and support billing accuracy.
- Track and report margins on loads and profitability by customer or carrier.
- Assist with month‑end closing and prepare reports for management as needed.

1–3 years of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or accounting preferred.Strong understanding of transportation billing, accessorials, and rate confirmations.Proficiency with TMS platforms and accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel, etc.).Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.Ability to handle multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently.Minimum Technical and Work Environment Requirements
