The Mechanical Engineer in Process Operations provides expert support in the design review, operation, and optimization of mechanical systems across oil and gas facilities. This role focuses on resolving technical issues, supporting project execution, and enhancing equipment performance through data analysis and system improvements. The engineer collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure mechanical solutions are safe, efficient, and compliant with industry standards. Responsibilities also include reviewing engineering documentation, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and contributing to cost-effective and reliable facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for mechanical systems (static & rotary) including pumps, compressors, turbines, piping, generators, supports, pressure vessels / columns, and heat exchangers (shell & tube, plate type, air fin coolers).
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues affecting production, safety, or efficiency and recommend effective solutions.
- Participate in mechanical design reviews and scope development for facility upgrades and new installations.
- Review engineering drawings, datasheets, and vendor documentation for compliance with standards and specifications.
- Support construction and commissioning activities with mechanical engineering oversight.
- Understand Asset Integrity Management Framework & Governance Procedures for Electrical, Instrumentation, DCS / SCADA & Custody Transfer Metering Assets on all operated assets to ensure reliability, integrity & asset performance throughout the life cycle.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify inefficiencies and propose optimization strategies.
- Provide technical support to fields operation in planning, preparation of work scope, material & manpower resources, MOCs, TRAs etc. for turnaround activities relevant to E&I activities.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and SIMOPS sessions and ensure all observations regarding mechanical equipment are addressed.
- Contribute to energy efficiency and cost reduction initiatives through mechanical system improvements.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including specifications, reports, and modification records.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes (API, ASME, ISO) and regulatory requirements in all mechanical work.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment procurement, installation, and technical evaluations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, process engineering, and HSE to ensure integrated solutions.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor\'s / Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.8-10 years of related experience, preferably in an Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Company.Commissioning & maintenance experience.Good knowledge & understanding of API-510, API-570, API-653, API-580, API-581, API-577, API-571, ASME Sec-V, ASME Sec-VIII, ASME B31.3, API-1104, ASME B31.8 and ASME B31G etc.Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral presentation and fluency in English language.Leadership qualities with an ability to influence decisions.Ability to motivate and support direct reports.Multitasking, self-starter and able to take initiatives and capable of achieving results.Effective dealing of complex tasks & situations.A team-player with strong communication skills.Ability to analyze multiple sources of data, make connections & create high quality solutions.Application Details
