Description
Summary
The Electrical Engineer-I provides engineering oversight throughout the proposal and design phase of projects. This includes all aspects of a Solar PV system, racking, equipment foundations and pads, fencing, and site construction support. Project execution will consist of providing detailed specifications and technical and design reviews. Layouts to be performed in AutoCAD.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish Solar PV basis of design including module selection, string sizing, ground coverage ratio, inverter selection, inverter power factor requirements, inverter loading ratio, and cable sizing
- Design solar PV systems, including 1-line diagrams and array layouts
- Demonstrate structural, mechanical, and electrical design skills with the ability to generate accurate, highly detailed construction drawings and documents using AutoCAD
- Closely collaborate with project development and construction teams in the design, development, and construction of Solar PV systems
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to tasks, particularly when analyzing current technical tools, and evaluating tools
- Perform energy simulation analysis using PVsyst to help Finance and Business Development team acquire new projects
- Collaborate with suppliers and 3rd-party personnel to facilitate design and development of Solar PV systems
- Assist in creating 30% and IFC PVsyst reports
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving
- Have a high degree of familiarity with the National Electric Code Book regarding PV Solar Systems

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work remotely and occasionally inspect the project where they could be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions.

Required Education And Experience
Bachelor’s and / or degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university2+ years of experience in solar PV system designMust be proficient in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software, as well as HelioScopeMust be proficient in solar performance modeling softwareDemonstrated electrical, structural, and mechanical design skills, and the ability to generate accurate, highly detailed construction drawings.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suiteAdditional Eligibility Qualifications
