Casualty Medical Officer (CMO) - Emergency Department

Job Purpose :
The Casualty Medical Officer (CMO) will be responsible for providing comprehensive emergency medical care, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high clinical and ethical standards in the Emergency Department (ER). The role involves effective patient management, coordination with paramedical staff, supervision of ER operations, and adherence to hospital protocols and Islamic ethics.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Provide prompt and efficient emergency care to all patients arriving in the ER.
Remain physically present and available in the ER throughout duty hours.
Ensure proper documentation of all clinical findings and patient records in the HIMS.
Administer life‑saving treatment and maintain patient care continuity during shift handovers.
Supervise paramedical staff, ECG technicians, and ensure investigations are conducted as advised.
Perform essential procedures including IV cannulation, lumbar puncture, pleural / ascitic tap, and blood transfusions.
Conduct daily assessments of emergency medications and supplies.
Sign death summaries and ensure accurate completion of all medical records.
Perform additional duties as Night Administrator during night shifts.
Managerial & Administrative Duties Oversee the cleanliness, upkeep, and readiness of the ER, especially during night or holiday shifts.
Report clinical and administrative issues promptly and submit daily CMO reports to administration.
Ensure economical and efficient use of drugs and medical supplies.
Verify functionality of all emergency equipment and emergency trolley medicines daily.
Uphold Islamic and medical ethics in all patient dealings as per IIMCTs mission.
Counsel patients and attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
Accompany consultants, HODs, and administrators during rounds and execute their directives.
Follow rotational duty rosters (morning, evening, night) and ensure no shift gaps occur during handovers.
Maintain professional appearance and adhere to hospital dress code.
Qualifications & Experience MBBS from a recognized institution.
Valid PMDC / PMC registration.
Prior experience in Emergency / Accident & Emergency Department preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, and decision‑making skills.
