What is Expert Digital Policy?
The Digital Policy team is part of the Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy Department within the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Division. The team is responsible for identifying opportunities of collaboration amongst different stakeholders for Digital intervention in various sectors of the economy. We interact with key regulatory bodies to understand the future trends of the industry and identify areas of policy intervention.
The role reports directly to the Head of Regulatory Policy.
What Expert Digital Policy does?
- Research and remain up to date with key trends and policies shaping digitalization in the digital space, by studying publicly available content on digital policy, digital financial services, e-commerce, and other relevant topics, published by public and private entities such as GSMA, World Bank, government entities etc.
- Understand the Digital Agenda and identify opportunities for digital intervention considering the digital agenda.
- Keep track of emerging policy issues related to progressive regulatory areas in the digital domain, including but not limited to over-the-top services (OTTs), digital media, and data protection.
- Assist the Digital Policy team in creating advocacy materials focused on issues of corporate and regulatory importance to the business.
- Establish good working relationship with relevant stakeholders for digital policy team e.g. multilaterals, start-ups, government sector, private sector.
- Seek out collaboration opportunities with key external stakeholders, including provincial IT boards and the Prime Minister\'s digital team, to promote the Digital Agenda and identify avenues for digital intervention.
- Recommend proactive and creative ideas for Digital Products and Services.
- Work closely with and understand the business needs of internal (Corporate Affairs, Jazz Business, Mobile Financial Services & Digital) and external (Multilaterals, private sector, government sector) stakeholders.
- Create proposals and presentations focused on creating business value.
- Find opportunities to represent Jazz and its views on different policy matters for a variety of platforms.
- Research and develop advocacy material on matters of corporate and regulatory significance to business.
- Establish good working relationship with relevant stakeholders for digital policy team e.g. multilaterals, start-ups, government sector, private sector and find opportunities for collaboration for Digital intervention.
- Contribute to developing position papers on current and forward-looking telecom and digital areas and aligning them with the company\'s objectives and international best practices.
- Assist in the development of advocacy material on all matters of corporate and regulatory significance to the business. This will include obtaining and verifying information, and then turning that into meaningful advocacy.
- Work with Manager Digital Policy to interact with key regulatory bodies to understand the future trends of the industry and identify areas of policy intervention. Collaborate with internal departments to understand how issues are impacting the various functions.
- Keep the advocacy database current, for the company, including, assisting with research and drafting written submissions to government consultations and select committee inquiries.
- Work with external think tanks and influencers to map the landscape for policy formulation.
