Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Community Contract Compliance Review Lawyer with expertise in the mining sector to ensure compliance with agreements between companies and communities. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in contract compliance, mining industry standards, and community development agreements. This role involves assessing commitments and compliance while fostering community relations and legal adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive compliance reviews of contracts / agreements between mining companies and communities, focusing on Community Development Agreements or Impact Benefit Agreements.
- Develop and utilize templates to identify company commitments and track ongoing compliance.
- Analyze compliance gaps through document reviews and, where necessary, conduct interviews with stakeholders.
- Propose strategies to address and remediate identified compliance gaps.
- Stay informed on relevant mining industry standards and community development frameworks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of compliance measures.
- Provide guidance on legal and community-based considerations related to agreements.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Formal legal training, such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree or diploma in law.Experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience in contract compliance and legal review.Proven expertise in the mining sector is essential.Demonstrated knowledge of Community Development Agreements / Impact Benefit Agreements.Skills and Tools
Proficiency in MS Office for documentation and reporting.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Detail-oriented approach to legal and compliance tasks.Work Conditions :
