Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated, and well-supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP / UNFPA / UNOPS Executive Board. At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to strategically and meaningfully integrate volunteerism into the implementation and delivery of their mandates. UNV works with UN entities to identify opportunities where volunteers add specific and unique value to development programmes and peacekeeping missions.

Context

This Online Volunteer (OV) assignment is part of the UNV Pakistan Field Unit's efforts to promote equitable access to information and opportunities. The UNV Pakistan office is undertaking the translation of essential Talent Acquisition documents from English into Sindhi. Sindhi is widely spoken across Sindh Province, and providing accurate translations will ensure that potential candidates who are more comfortable in Sindhi can fully understand the requirements, expectations, and benefits of volunteering or working with UNV. The onboarded OV will be based remotely and will not be hosted at any duty station or field office by the United Nations.

Task Description

The selected Online Volunteer will support us by ensuring the quality of the translated document from English to Sindhi. Responsibilities include :

• Checking the quality of the translation from English to Sindhi.
• Ensuring the translation is concise and accurate.
• Reviewing the overall quality of the document to ensure translation accuracy.

The Online Volunteer will be provided with the original document and additional guidance as needed.

Competencies and values

Level of Education : Bachelor Degree

Work Hours : 8 hours per day
