Job Description
We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer to take on a hybrid role as a technical architect and team lead. In this on-site position, you will design and implement scalable, high-performance web applications in PHP while guiding a small team of developers. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of PHP development experience , a strong grasp of software architecture principles, and proven leadership skills. You’ll be hands-on with coding and code reviews, yet also responsible for high-level system design and mentoring others. This role offers a mix of coding, architectural strategy, and people-management in a dynamic development environment.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural Design : Lead the design and development of scalable, maintainable PHP-Laravel- based systems. Ensure system architecture meets performance, security, and reliability standards.Hands-On Development : Write clean, well-documented PHP code and review code written by others. Build new features and refactor existing components as needed.Team Leadership : Mentor and lead a small team of developers. Establish coding standards and best practices (e.g. code reviews, testing). Provide technical guidance and help solve complex problems.Collaboration : Work closely with non-technical stakeholders including executive management, administrative staff, and teachers as well as technical team and translate business requirements into technical solutions.Platform Operations : Manage day-to-day platform operations including account setups, credentials handling, third-party integrations, environment configuration, and ensuring platform stability, security, and documentation.Best Practices : Implement and enforce best practices in software development (version control, CI / CD pipelines, agile methodologies). Stay current with PHP frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Symfony) and emerging technologies.Project Oversight : Participate in all stages of the development lifecycle (requirements analysis, design, implementation, deployment). Track progress and communicate status and risks to management.Project management : Oversee task planning and execution in ClickUp, including task assignment, effort estimation, setting milestones, ensuring progress, managing deliverables, and ensuring timely project completion.Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience : 5–8 years of professional PHP development experience. Strong portfolio of PHP projects or products.Architecture & Design : Proven ability to architect scalable, high-performance web applications and systems. Experience applying design patterns and best practices for large codebases.Leadership : Experience leading or mentoring other developers, conducting code reviews, and driving team collaboration. Strong communication and organizational skills.Tools : Proficient with version control systems (Git), testing methodologies, and experience with build / deployment tools (Docker, Jenkins, etc.). Comfortable working in Linux environments and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar).Education & Thinking : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred) or equivalent practical experience. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications
Advanced experience (beyond 8 years) or formal experience as a software architect or technical lead.Familiarity with modern DevOps practices (automated CI / CD pipelines, container orchestration).Experience with NoSQL / datastore technologies (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch) or message brokers.Exposure to front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Vue) and full-stack development.Certifications in PHP or cloud platforms.Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies and project management tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.).Apply Now
