Senior PHP Developer - Remote

We are besteckliste.com - a global e-commerce company based in Berlin, specialising in luxury tableware with over 30,000 articles from 32 premium European brands, with a particular focus on cutlery and porcelain. With a track record of serving over 50,000 customers in the last 20 years, the new owner is seeking experienced and motivated individuals to help grow the business on multiple fronts.

Tasks :

Understand the complex code base as well as databases, both written by an amateur over the last 10-15 years

Decrease the number of pages from 300.000 to 60.000.

Upgrading the website from PHP 7.4 to at least version 8.x

Implement a new checkout process incl. a new payment solution

Executing several UX and design improvements

Big plus : Finding design and UX problems yourself and propose solutions

Identifying and fixing security vulnerabilities

Developing and maintaining documentation related to the website

Job Specification

Experience with PHP code bases written 10-15 years ago. If you only know laravel and modern framework, this job is not the right one

Experience with online shops is a must

Proven ability to create and implement design changes

Familiarity with the latest web development trends and best practices

Knowledge of Google's ranking guidelines and boundaries to avoid ranking losses
