Responsibilities :

  • Review all Agreement Documents to ensure Contractor Scope of works and its contractual obligations under the subject Agreement.
  • Prepare necessary documents / reports and analysis related to contractual issues.
  • Conduct regular site visits to follow up on project status and maintain records.
  • Assist Project Team with reviewing, commenting, and responding to Contractor correspondences, particularly advising on contractual / commercial aspects raised therein.
  • Lead negotiation and claims meetings and summarize results after obtaining appropriate confirmations.
  • Follow up on the submission by Contractor of all required bank guarantees, warranties, insurances, and other specified documentation, verifying their acceptability to Client.
  • Review all project documentation / correspondence to identify any contractual or commercial implications that may adversely impact Client’s interests.
  • Initiate preparation of appropriate contractual responses to Contractor for issuance by Project Team to extinguish and / or mitigate such matters.
  • Monitor and process commercial and contractual aspects pertaining to Variations / Change Orders and claims.
  • Study, evaluate, and advise on claims made by Contractor in light of contractual obligations and in conjunction with technical input from the Project Team.
  • Prepare an appropriate strategy for extinguishing or initiating the cost / schedule impact of such claims for approval by the Company.

Job Specification

Qualifications :

  • Senior Contracts Engineer must be an Engineer by qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University with a valid Professional membership of PEC and / or International equivalent membership.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant foreign and local work experience in administrating, managing, and handling complex contracts for High Rise Building Projects and Infrastructure & Utilities projects in master planned communities.
  • Knowledge of contract law and commercial practice.
  • Familiarity with key areas such as indemnities, insurance, guarantees, warranties, and liquidated damages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead issues and proactively obtain resolutions to problems; decisive and confident.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Able to manage a high workload, work in a demanding environment, and demonstrate commitment.
  • Experience in a commercial / projects / business role and interfacing.
  • Demonstrated experience in Contract Management.
  • Good organizational skills and experience in risk management and project management.
  • High-level problem-solving skills to resolve complex and sensitive issues.
  • Proficiency in the use of a range of office software.
