Responsibilities
- Maintain and update electronic health records and physical medical records accurately and securely following healthcare regulatory frameworks and university policies.
- Ensure compliance with IHRA standards and healthcare laws in handling and protecting patient medical information.
- Perform precise medical coding and data entry tasks to support health information management and facilitate accurate billing and reporting.
- Organize and manage records retention and disposal schedules in line with established policies to ensure timely and appropriate handling of health data.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and administrative staff to verify and correct patient information and medical records.
- Utilize health information systems (HIS) to retrieve, analyze, and maintain health data effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient records to prevent unauthorized access or breaches.
- Support audits and quality assurance activities by providing accurate medical records and related documentation.
- Provide training and assistance to staff on medical coding best practices and the use of electronic health record systems.
- Prepare reports and summaries related to health information management for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay updated on current industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in health information management.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members to ensure smooth operations and address any data discrepancies.
- Ensure basic computer operations, including MS Office and database usage, support effective medical record maintenance and management.
