Overview Riphah International University is seeking a highly skilled ICU Consultant with expertise in Critical Care Medicine and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The ideal candidate must hold an FCPS or an equivalent qualification as per CPSP in the relevant basic subject and have a minimum of three years of experience in intensive care settings. This position involves leading and managing a team of five healthcare professionals, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care in a fast-paced and demanding environment. The ICU Consultant will take charge of critical patient cases, implement evidence-based treatment protocols, and coordinate care among multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes. The ICU Consultant plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients in the intensive care unit, including assessment, monitoring, and treatment of life-threatening conditions. The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to oversee complex medical interventions while fostering a collaborative team environment. As a key leader at Riphah International University, the ICU Consultant contributes to continuous quality improvement, education, and training of junior staff members and ensures compliance with hospital policies and guidelines.
Responsibilities
Critical Care Consultant will perform clinical and educational functions within the critical care units.
Clinical duties will include assessment and management of patients in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the adult High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Academic responsibilities will include supervising, coordinating, and instructing critical care instructors, fellows and other junior staff in the critical care units.
Supervise and perform credentialed critical care procedures within the ICU & HDU.
Coordinate multidisciplinary rounding within the ICU & HDU.
Conduct consultation outside the critical care units.
Participate in departmental research and academic activities, institutional quality improvement and patient safety activities.
Able to function independently with minimal oversight or supervision; resolve concerns when possible and effectively communicate needs and concerns to the head of department or others in the administrative chain of command as and when necessary.
Mentors registrars, post-graduate trainees, medical officers, house officers, paramedics and other health professionals in making good patient care possible.
Able to supervise subordinate clinical, technical and clerical staff. Ensure all staff maintain a high standard of service & customer care and proactively monitor the service provided to consultants & patients alike through audit / feedback and supporting the department and institution in all activities, as appropriate.
