Overview
Background The Revenue Mobilisation, Investment and Trade (REMIT) is a multi-year (2021–2028) programme funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by Adam Smith International (ASI). REMIT provides technical assistance to the Government of Pakistan to strengthen macroeconomic stability, improve growth conditions, and enhance poverty reduction efforts.
Activity Context The Government of Pakistan has prioritised transparent, accountable, and climate-resilient public financial management. As part of this agenda, REMIT is supporting the institutionalisation of Climate Budget Tagging (CBT) – a system for identifying, classifying, and reporting on climate-related public expenditures.
A central part of this work is the development and institutionalisation of Climate Budget Tagging (CBT) , which systematically classifies, tracks, and reports climate-relevant public expenditures at the federal and provincial levels. CBT aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and alignment of public spending with Pakistan’s commitments under frameworks such as the IMF’s Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), the Paris Agreement, and the Sendai Framework by promoting transparent, data-driven budgeting that supports resilient development outcomes.
A Senior Specialist (Data Integrity Reports and Methodology) will be engaged to lead the design, coordination, and quality assurance of the provincial budget tagging. The Associate – Provincial Climate Budget Tagging will work under the direction of this expert, supporting coordination, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and background analysis to ensure the success of the provincial climate and gender budget tagging.
Job Summary
The Associate will support the Senior Specialists and the REMIT team in coordinating the provincial budget tagging, documenting institutional inputs, organising stakeholder engagements, and tracking deliverables. The Associate will also assist in preparing analysis, reviewing documentation, and supporting the delivery of workshops and consultations to ensure smooth implementation of the provincial Climate Budget Tagging activity.
