Job descriptionCoordinate all departmental activities as a supervisor by training, monitoring, and scheduling all departmental staff. Maintain budget and overview responsibilities for these collections but delegate actual collection management duties to staff trained in approved techniques for acquisition, evaluation, weeding, and inventory of the collections. Evaluate all departmental staff by using the library-wide standards of the approved performance appraisal system. Ensure that the information literacy sessions are carried out in accordance with the ISD policies. Ensure that the universitys mission is implemented properly in the campus libraries / learning resource centers. Supervise information literacy programs for graduate / postgraduate students. Supervise and validate the subject guides in accordance with predefined course outlines of assigned faculties. Supervise / ensure the online access of digital resources for local and delocalized library users. Supervise / ensure fulfillment of research enquiries received online and offline to facilitate research activities. Work as a mentor for an assigned group of students. Participate in meetings of different academic and administrative committees to represent the role of ISD in university governance.
Job Requirements :
- MLIS / MPhil in the Library and Information Sciences from a recognized university.
- University-level theoretical and practical knowledge of tools and techniques used in the field of library and information science.
- (6) years of successful, practical University library professional experience are required.
