The Officer Engineering Services in the Facilitation Department is responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance and upkeep of the university\'s facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The role involves coordinating and performing a range of maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Job Responsibilities :
- Conduct regular inspections of university buildings, facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing repairs, electrical work, HVAC system checks, and minor carpentry.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to address issues and minimize disruptions.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoot maintenance issues reported by university staff and students.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements for future reference.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for various university assets.
- Carry out scheduled inspections and maintenance activities to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to maintain a safe environment for all occupants.
- Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and initiate the procurement of necessary items to support maintenance operations.
- Work closely with other members of the Facilities Management team to coordinate maintenance activities with ongoing university events and operations.
- Collaborate with custodial staff to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Prepare regular maintenance reports for the Facilitation Manager, detailing completed tasks, ongoing projects, and upcoming maintenance activities.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance expenses, resource utilization, and work orders.
- Stay updated with best practices, new technologies, and trends in maintenance management.
- Participate in relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
