Responsibilities :

We are seeking a Senior Medical Officer for our Hemodialysis Unit, who will contribute to providing and managing superior patient care while working closely with consultants and the care team. You will be responsible to :

  • Provide direct patient care and coordinate care delivery under supervision of consultants in the Hemodialysis Unit.
  • Perform daily rounds on maintenance hemodialysis patients and carry out initial evaluations and investigations as per institutional protocols.
  • Perform complex procedures including central line insertion, double-lumen and dialysis catheter insertion, arterial line placement, ascitic fluid aspiration, and management of medical emergencies within competency.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of clinical and progress notes, patient care forms, and other records in line with hospital standards.
  • Counsel and educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and healthcare needs.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate transfer of cases to other services or hospitals as per policy.
  • Actively participate in educational activities (e.g., Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs) and institutional quality initiatives, JCIA, ISO, and infection control practices.
  • Provide administrative support and participate in service line meetings, trainings, and quality improvement projects.

Requirements :

You should have the following :

  • MBBS from a recognized institution; additional diploma in a relevant field (e.g., nephrology, internal medicine) is preferred.
  • At least 5 years post-MBBS related experience (in addition to one year of house job), or 3 years’ experience with an additional diploma.
  • Proficiency in placement of central and arterial lines.
  • Ability to assess patients, make clear decisions, and take timely action to avoid complications.
  • Strong communication and counseling skills tailored to patients’ and families’ levels of understanding.
  • Competency in managing medical emergencies and performing specialized procedures.
  • Collaborative team approach with nursing and paramedical staff.
