Construction Machinery Maintenance Manager

Job Responsibilities :

Strong mechanical / electrical background with construction equipment.

Ability to troubleshoot problems in a narrow timeframe.

Prior supervisory experience.

Prior budgeting experience.

Define and delegate responsibility of Maintenance Supervisors (2) and 10 to 15 skilled trades.

Schedule hours for maintenance mechanics to maximize utilization of manpower, provide adequate production coverage, and avoid excessive overtime.

Review downtime logs and analyze activities associated with downtime to determine possible causes.

Review daily performance goals and adjust maintenance activities to meet or exceed standards. Ensure equipment is maintained to a level that will allow production numbers required by the daily schedule.

Utilize information supplied by the production schedule to meet production requirements.

Coordinate all maintenance projects to ensure completion complies with goals and budgets.

Prioritize maintenance expenditures and spend budget accordingly; anticipated or existing shortages must be communicated with the Plant Controller.

Ensure all parts, chemicals, and other necessary supplies ordered by the Maintenance Department are adequate and available as needed.

Review and justify overtime as required.

Fill out tardy and absentee reports for the Maintenance Department.

Schedule vacations and days off to avoid manpower shortages.

Assist mechanics in troubleshooting equipment.

Supervise the progress of repairs and inspect the quality of completed repairs.

Meet with outside sales representatives to evaluate price, availability, and services.

Meet with Production Superintendents to discuss maintenance-related downtime.

Schedule assistance when outside technical expertise is required to make repairs on machines.

Observe the operation of production equipment and note areas requiring repairs and modifications.

Be aware of all plant operations and keep abreast of developments and advancements in machinery.

Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance (P.M.) programs.

Enforce all safety regulations and plant rules.

Administer and ensure integrity and compliance of all maintenance systems.

Must be able to perform all duties in either the electrical or mechanical area.

Job Specification

Understand safety procedures and equipment required in all phases of maintenance.
